Trauner’s Sid Scott Called to Advise Senate Public Works Committee

Our very own Sid Scott, P.E., was recently invited by Senators James Inofe (OK) and Barbara Boxer’s (CA) staff to do a briefing in Washington, DC for various staffers working for the senators involved in the public works committee, subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Senators Inofe (Rep.) and Boxer (Dem.) lead the U.S. Senate’s subcommittee on Environment and Public Works. They are currently working towards the re-authorization of a highway bill.

On June 2nd, Sid went down to the Senate office building to meet with the senate staffers and educate them on the use of alternative delivery methods in highway construction. Most of the discussion centered around CM@Risk and how the federal government could use this method of delivery to improve efficiency and reduce costs.  Sid also went into detail on the ins and outs of GMP contracts. The Senators’ staff wanted to know how they could incentivize the industry to use these and other alternative delivery methods.

Sid spend over an hour talking to the group and educated them with what he had learned on various research and practical assignments. The staffers had done their homework and had well-informed questions. After the meeting, the staffers thanked Sid for taking the time to come down and speak with them and said they might ask for additional input regarding language in the reauthorization.
