Cheryl is an expert in general construction practices, project management, project documentation, cost analysis, change order preparation and review, claim preparation and analysis (including delay and inefficiency), the calculation of delay damages, and determining responsibility for contract changes.
As a construction professional, Cheryl has over 25 years of experience in the following capacities: field inspector, senior construction inspector, quality assurance engineer, field engineer, estimator, superintendent, construction manager, senior project engineer, cost manager, project manager, and senior project manager. She managed hard-bid “at risk” projects, negotiated-fee projects, cost-plus contracts, and design-build projects with GMPs in both the private sector and for public owners. Cheryl’s experience includes new construction projects, rehab and retrofit projects, and industrial plant shut-down projects.
As an expert in claims analysis and construction, Cheryl has presented at mediation proceedings, analyzed claims, and has developed expert reports. She has analyzed highway, transit, hotel, condominium, casino, K-12 school, and university projects for state, county, city, and local agencies as well as private developers.
Cheryl authored the article, “The First Three Rules of Construction – Document, Document, Document!” which she converted to an educational seminar that she presents in webinars and as a speaker at industry conferences. She is an instructor for Associated General Contractors courses and National Association of Women in Construction courses. Cheryl has also developed and presented customized courses for contractors.
Prior to joining Trauner, Cheryl was the contractor’s project manager for the following projects: FDOT Turnpike District Headquarters and Support Facilities, Ocoee, FL – $20M; Buffalo Niagara International Airport New Terminal Building, Buffalo, NY – $60M; Air Freight/Passenger Terminal and Base Supply Traffic Complex, Patrick AFB, FL – $20M; and Crown Bay Pier Expansion and Commercial Development Project, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – $30M. Cheryl also served as cost manager during construction of an entertainment facility in Orlando, FL, with the core and shell valued at $90M, including dining and retail facilities.
